Travel with Impact
Discover how your journey can make a difference in Tanzania
Connecting to People, Culture and Nature
Milele means forever — and the impact of your journey reaches far beyond your time in Tanzania. We believe travel should connect us, lift up communities, and leave good behind.
Our journeys take you across Tanzania — from world-famous safaris in Serengeti and Ngorongoro, to quiet walks in the heart of Maasailand. At the center of it all is TingaTinga, a village few travelers know. Here, the Maasai open their homes and stories to you.
“The Serengeti may take your breath away — but TingaTinga will stay in your heart.”
Your trip helps support education, health care, and local jobs through Maasailand Development. We’re not a typical travel company — we’re a community, a movement, and a promise.
Building Futures Together – Maasailand Development
This journey started not as a business, but with friendship and trust.
Since 2017, we’ve walked alongside the Maasai of TingaTinga — building together, with respect and care. That grew into Maasailand Development, a nonprofit supporting a free school for over 640 children. The NGO continues to work hard to improve living conditions in TingaTinga — with a new health clinic currently in the planning stages.
Every guest, every trip moves this work forward.
Tembo Lodge - A Lodge That Gives Back
To help fund the school and create local jobs, we built Tembo Lodge. It’s a small, peaceful retreat with just five bungalows — tucked beneath Mount Kilimanjaro. Everyone who welcomes you — your guide, your host — is Maasai from the village (except our chef). This is their home, and they’re inviting you in.
You’ll walk ancestral lands, learn traditions, and listen to stories by firelight. Your stay helps provide school meals, support teachers, and bring health care closer. Visitors come for the views but leave with something deeper.
The Maasai Tribe
The Maasai are a semi-nomadic Indigenous people of East Africa, primarily living in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are renowned for their strong cultural traditions, distinctive dress, and deep connection to cattle, which lie at the heart of Maasai life. Traditionally, Maasai wealth is measured not by money but by the number of cattle and children a family has, as cattle provide food, social status, and long-term security
Maasai society is organized around age-set systems, with groups of men progressing together through stages of life such as childhood, warriorhood, and elderhood. Warriors, known as moran, are admired for their bravery and play an important role in protecting the community. The Maasai are also famous for their vibrant clothing—especially red shúkàs—and their intricate beadwork, which reflects age, social status, and cultural identity.
With Milele Journeys, travelers can experience authentic Maasai culture through respectful and immersive cultural encounters in Kenya and Tanzania. Guests have the opportunity to learn about traditional Maasai customs, connect with local hosts, and gain meaningful insight into a culture that continues to thrive while embracing the future.
Join us in celebrating the spirit of the Maasai — a timeless culture that enriches every journey.
